Melvyn Roffe has been Principal of George Watson’s College since August 2014, having previously served as Principal of Wymondham College in Norfolk for seven years.
Mr Roffe graduated in English from the University of York and trained to be a teacher at the University of Durham. His first teaching post was in the English department at Oundle School. He was appointed Head of English at Monmouth School in 1993 and was promoted to the post of Director of Studies in 1997. In 2001 he was appointed Headmaster of Old Swinford Hospital, a state funded boarding school in Stourbridge where he served for six years before moving to Norfolk.
Melvyn Roffe served on the National Executive of the Boarding Schools’ Association (2004–2010) and was Chairman of the Association in 2008-09. He is currently a Trustee of the English-Speaking Union in Scotland and serves as a Director of the Scottish Council for Independent Schools and of the Scottish Parent Teacher Council.
