Dear Advisers,

GWC@EdMUN Conference 17-18 March 2018

After GWC’s 10th Anniversary Conference in March 2017, we wrote to explain that we were planning to spend this current academic year building up our own School MUN Club. In doing so, we have developed a partnership with EdMUN, the Edinburgh University MUN Society.

We are delighted to invite you to GWC@EdMUN; a MUN Conference to be held at Edinburgh University and organised by the graduate and undergraduate student team of EdMUN and the group of teachers and pupils behind GWCMUN. The Conference will feature much which will be familiar to those of you who have attended GWCMUN in the past, but will benefit from the combined expertise and resources of both groups organising it. This includes having experienced teams of University and GWC pupils chairing committees, and streamlining the preparation process by writing resolutions during the weekend.

The Opening Ceremony and committee sessions will be held at the University, utilising some of Edinburgh University’s most historic buildings. The Saturday Night Social will be a three course formal dinner followed by traditional Scottish Ceilidh.

The cost of the Conference will be £60 per delegate. This will include all Conference materials, lunch on both days and the Formal Dinner and Ceilidh. Registration will open at 8.30am on Saturday morning and the Conference will close by 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon.

This Conference will be restricted to 250 delegates so if you wish to guarantee places for your pupils, we urge you to complete the registration form as soon as possible. View the list of possible countries to choose from.

When your registration has been received, you will be sent an invoice. A deposit of £20 per delegate will secure your booking and should be paid within two weeks of receipt of the invoice. The remaining payment will be due by 13 February  2018.

As part of its high school outreach programme, EdMUN also gives small grants to support Scottish secondary schools attending MUN Conferences. This is particularly aimed at schools which do not have an established tradition of pupils proceeding directly to higher education. Grant Application Form .

This innovative  partnership between GWCMUN and EdMUN will ensure a unique  MUN experience for school delegations and we look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh in March.

Many more details about the Conference will appear on both the GWCMUN and EDMUN websites shortly. If you have any questions at this stage, please don’t hesitate to make contact at

Best wishes
