Angling Club

In the early 1950s a former pupil, Mr Ralph Lownie, gifted his fishing rights to a two-mile stretch of the river Tweed at Thornilee, near Walkerburn to Watson’s. He wanted the pupils of Watson's to experience the countryside and discover the art of fishing.

Today the Angling Club continues to respect the wishes of the donor and pupils receiving instruction to arm them with the basic skills of river fishing each session. The Angling Club makes their way to Thornilee in the beautiful Scottish Borders, where pupils receive professional instruction, and all equipment is provided by the school.
