Puzzles and Coding Club is perfect for those who enjoy logical problems, games and even competitions. Some examples of the array of puzzles which you can learn are ‘Kakuro’, ‘Hidato’ and ‘Hanjie’ and the famous ‘Sudoku’. Learning a range of games is not all that this club has to offer; those who attend can also improve their code-breaking skills by diving into the fascinating world of cryptology.
Pupils are given the opportunity to participate in multiple online competitions such as the Alan Turing Competition, taking place in January and February run by The University of Manchester, and The University of Southampton National Cipher Challenge. The club runs during lunchtime in Term One and after school during the Alan Turing Competition in Term Two. There is no specified or suggested mathematical ability – Just come along and let the code-breaking commence!
