History Club at Watson's gives pupils a chance to learn about history in a fun, interactive way, as opposed to the typical classroom environment. Pupils are able to take charge, choosing to look at the historical topics that interest them most. They then gain a deeper understanding of their chosen era of an event through projects, posters or models.
The club has recently covered the Egyptians and the Middle Ages, and has seen a range of different crafts built around these topics, from models of castles to 3D posters. The club’s activities are not only limited to within the School; after being contacted by the Trimontium Trust, the members recently took a trip to the National Museum of Scotland to look at the mystery behind a particular Roman Fort. The next plans of the club involve a historical charity bake sale, as well as a look at fashion through the ages.
