Team in action at Heriot Watt UniversityOur team of S3 pupils – Anna Fenning, Tim Duffield, Jon Ip and Lewis Bova – entered Heriot-Watt University’s annual Roboteers Competition – and found they were the youngest team there and that they were up against teams of S4 and S5 pupils from other schools. With three categories up for grabs our pupils relished the challenge.

The organisers of the competition remarked at how well our team did in terms of the design: which included two sleek movements, and the fact that they were the only team to use a ‘flicking’ method of getting the balls over the net.  All the other teams opted for the scooping method which required them to drive up to the net and drop the balls over, whereas our team could ‘shoot’ from anywhere on the pitch.  This meant our team walked away with the Best Engineered Robot prize.
