Former pupil, Chris Hoy, took Athens by storm on Friday 20 August when he rode a 1:00.711 race to win Gold in the men's 1km cycling time trial.
Chris, class of 1994, was last to race and it is difficult to imagine the tension as he had to watch three other riders break the Olympic record set by Jason Queally four years ago. However, he kept his mind on the job and put in a sensational performance to set a new Olympic record of his own.
Chris was supported in Athens by family, friends and team-mates, and is set to receive a very warm welcome when he returns home after the Games. As his former school, the whole Watson's community extends special congratulations to Chris.
