The winning boys' relay teamOn Friday 5 December rowers from George Watson's College had a successful day at the Scottish Schools' Indoor Rowing Championships held at Scotstoun Stadium, home of the Glasgow Warriors and venue for squash and table tennis at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Some of our top rowers from the Senior, Intermediate and Novice Squads competed at the Ergometer Championships, competing over distances from 2-minute sprints to 3,000m relays.

Anna Buchanan (S2) won the first race of the day, the U13 girls’ event; and GWC won medals in both of the U18 events, with Katherine Aird (S6) winning bronze in the Girls' event, and Oliver Fenton (S6) winning gold in the Open boys’ event.

The final race of the day, the Open team relay, was a close race between Watson’s and Glasgow Academy.  The Watson's team of Oliver Fenton, James Stevenson, Alasdair Watson (all S6), and Duncan Kuwall (S5) triumphed with a winning margin of 5.8 seconds.

The squad will continue to train over the winter months, looking forward to the resumption of racing competitions in the New Year.
