A Watson's pupil has won the overall prize at the Scottish Schools Art Exhibition at The Caledonian Club.

Lucy Bennett (S6) won the prize for Mandarin Still Life (pictured), which the judges praised for its diversity of style, the knowledge and research behind the work and its attention to detail. The exhibition was judged by Iain Gale from fine art auction house Lyon & Turnbull and contemporary Scottish artist Alison Watt.

Lucy's prize is a day at Lyon & Turnbull in Edinburgh. She will also visit the National Gallery of Scotland, including a tour of the Joan Eardley exhibition, and will have lunch with National Gallery Senior Curator Alice Strang. Her work will also feature in the next edition of Caledonian magazine.

The exhibition ran from 27 February to 24 March 2017. Nine schools took part: Strathallan, George Watson's College, Loretto, Fettes College, Hutcheson's Grammar School, High School of Dundee, The Mary Erskine School, Glenalmond College, High School of Glasgow, George Heriot's School and Robert Gordon's College.
