On Sunday 25 November the GWC U11 sevens team defended their title in the Edinburgh Academy Sevens tournament. They were joined this year by a B team, meaning 18 boys were representing the school. This was a fantastic event, well organised by Edinburgh Academy.
The A team were never troubled in their group stages, winning them all without conceding a try. In the final GWC played the hosts, and were given a fright early on when Edinburgh Academy scored the first try. This spurred the boys on, and they started to play some fantastic sevens rugby, making the ball do all the hard work before releasing one of their speed men into space. In the course of the day every player scored at least one try, and Adam Hastings converted 23 of the 38 tries scored. This was an eye opening display of skill, strength, pace and teamwork - sevens rugby out of the top drawer!
Thank you to Mr Harrison and Mr Kerr for all their help, and the boys for their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour.
