The Galleon on the Senior SchoolWe had an amazingly successful evening when our four S5 Young Enterprise Companies gave their presentations at the Lothian Region Awards Evening held in the big 'eye' lecture theatre on the Craiglockhart Campus of Napier University,

Artemis (Managing Director Katie Griffith Morgan) won Best Marketing Director, Best IT Director, Best Business Idea, Best Interview and Best Company in Lothian Region. They were also runners-up in the Best Finance Director, Best Sales Director and third in the Best Production category. They will be going on to the Scottish Final on 15 June in Glasgow.   They produced and sold pewter jewellery.

Create (Managing Director Georgia Wylie) won Best Production Director and Best Presentation. They were runners-up with Best Business Idea and third in the Best IT and Best Sales Director categories.

Spectrum (Managing Director Emma Stephenson) won Best HR Director and Best Company Secretary. They were runners-up in the Best IT Director category.

Capital (MD Shona Galloway) were runners-up in the Best Presentation category.

Watson’s has never had an evening like it in the last quarter century although teams have made it to the Scottish finals on two other occasions.

Huge credit must go to the pupils involved and to our business advisers and staff who worked with these motivated individuals. This year deadlines were met with days to spare, business reports were well crafted (important as many of the prizes in the categories were determined by the reports and the interview), and the presentations were well planned, delivered without any cards/notes, and with an excellent use of IT.
