This is a very busy time in the Music & Drama life of the School with no less than three productions between now and the end of term.
Our Primary 7 pupils have been working hard on Pinafore Pirates, a Gilbert and Sullivan style piece, with appearances from The Mikado, Iolanthe, Princess Ida and a whole gang of female pirates. They have been rehearsing and making scenery and props for the last week ready for next week's performances in front of the families and friends.
Many of the show’s songs are ‘related‘ to original Gilbert and Sullivan songs, in that they are pastiches of some of the pair’s more memorable numbers: The songs Ribbit and Three Determined Ladies are imitations of Tit Willow and the Three Little Maids from The Mikado, while Poor Wandering One from The Pirates of Penzance is Poor Static One in this show!
After the mid-term break our Primary 3 pupils will be immersing themselves in a variety of cross-curricular activities as they prepare to perform the citizenship musical Crikey, Moses! by Sheila Wilson, for a whole cycle. A host of exciting, songs from blues to rock to ballad help tell the story of Moses, Pharaoh, the bulrushes, the burning bush, the plagues, the commandments, and much more!
Then to finish the year the Senior School Summer Production of Calamity Jane will be put on in the small window of opportunity between SQA exams and the end of term. This is a sold out production.
