Successful Weekend For Watson's Rowers

Inverness Head is the largest and most competitive winter race in Scotland and this year our crews preformed to a high level once again. Saturday also saw Boys' Captain Fergus Mainland (S6) compete at the first Great Britain Assessment in Boston, Lincolnshire producing a strong result against the best athletes in the country.

Up in Inverness, some of the stand-out performances across the four divisions came from our single scullers. Ruairi Potter (S5) raced well in a field of 13 to win Novice singles. This was followed by Rory Mainland (S3) and Anna Buchanan (S4) winning the J14 and WJ16 1x respectively. Anna teamed up with Sarah Orr (also S4) to take the win in Women's R1 doubles, racing against senior women. Our intermediate squad delivered again with a win in WNov 4x+.

Watson's crews showed further strength by finishing second or third in another eight events. Our Beginners and Intermediates now look forward to a friendly match against Yarm School in January, while our Senior Squad prepare themselves for long hard winter's training for Scotland Team selection.
