Success at the Scottish Schools' Dry Ski Championships

Last weekend saw the Scottish Schools' Dry Ski Slope Championship at Hillend, and Watson's skiers rose above wet and windy conditions to win an impressive array of medals and titles.

Four teams won gold medals:

  • the Senior Girls team of Jemma Clarke, Eilidh Skinner (both S5), Kirsty McCallum (S3) and Sophie Anderson (S1);
  • the Senior Boys team of Alasdair Sandland (S6), William Dalziel (S5), Duncan Greenshields (S4) and Robbie Anderson (S3);
  • the Senior Mixed team of Isabel Travers, Guy Kellas (both S3), Tom Dalziel (S2) and Oliver Travers (S1);
  • and the Boys Minor team: Struan Calder, Jamie Anderson (both S2), Arran Dempster (S1) and Jenson Mickel (P6).

The Mixed Minor team – Ewan Johnston (P5), Sam Miller, Emilia Dempster and Louis Ferguson (all P5) – won silver, while the Girls Minor team, all new racers, came 5th with a team comprising Kate Skirving (S2), Millie Crow, Sophie Scott (both S1) and Mia Donald (P7). 

Jemma Clarke won the individual trophy for being the fastest girl on the day.

Our teams are now through to the British Dry Slope Championship in Wales in November.
