Saltire flyingSix of our S5 pupils won first place in the Scottish Regional Heat of the ICAEW (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) Business, Accounting and Skills Education competition.

Ellen Bethune, Katherine Fraser, Joanna McKay, Julia O'Neil, Matthew Stephen and Chiara Wilkinson competed against nine other teams in the competition which was held at the John McIntyre Centre at the University of Edinburgh.

Each of the ten teams competing took on the role of an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and applied their knowledge, skills and experience to resolve a business situation. They were supported by a professional mentor, and put their classroom learning into practice by working through the business information, they developed recommendations and presented them to the panel of respected judges. They were observed on how well they worked as a team, how effectively they communicated and how they managed their time under tight deadlines. They also demonstrate to the judges that they were organised, proactive in their approach to tasks and could 'think outside of the box'.

They will attend the National Final in Birmingham on 25 June.
