On Tuesday 20 February, 11 S5 and S6 pupils attended the Scottish Malawi Partnership Youth Congress at Hampden Park, Glasgow. It was a very interesting day, which kicked off with a video message from Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish First Minister.
The morning included workshops where we had the opportunity to learn about travelling to Malawi, the language ‘Chewa’ and Malawian culture. We also participated in a group activity involving speaking to pupils from other schools and sharing stories about the connections we had with the African country.
During the afternoon we were given the chance to listen to a panel of journalists, Scottish Government representatives and other people with links to Malawi. We were able to ask questions, which gave us an insight into their careers and history with Malawi.
Overall, it was a great event, enjoyed by all!
