The team which won the hat trick of 7s tournamentsOur 1st XV followed up winning the Brewin Dolphin Cup for the third year in a row by becoming the first school to win the three main Sevens tournaments for schools in Scotland in the same season.

The first win was at Merchiston Castle Sevens where the boys beat the hosts 26 – 12 in the final. At the Goldenacre Sevens they met Merchiston again and came away 29 – 17 winners. So they entered our own Caritas Tournament with the opportunity to win the hat trick, which they did by defeating Edinburgh Academy 31 – 17.  They were never behind in any of the twelve ties they played in over the three tournaments.

This was all in the space of nine days and the fact it's never been done before highlights how difficult it is. We were lucky with injury and used the same ten players in each tournament. This achievement was also despite the fact we were unable to call on the services of our two Scotland U18 players and three Scotland U18 Development players
