A party of 30 players, 4 staff and 4 supporters left for Dubai and Cape Town, South Africa, in early August for a development rugby tour.

In all 3 matches were played against opposition in Cape Town. The results were as follows:
GWC v Temperance RFC win 41-3
GWC v Wynburg High School loss 3-24
GWC v Camps Bay High School win 31-10

In addition the squad trained in Dubai at the Dubai Exiles Rugby Club and at Hamilton RFC in Cape Town in preparation for the forthcoming season. Off pitch the pupils had the opportunity to participate in many activities including a desert safari, visit to the Wild Wadi water park, sailing on a Dow down Dubai Creek, visit to Table Mountain, visit to Robben Island (where Nelson Mandella was incarcerated), visit to the two Ocean Aquarium, attending a Currie Cup Match (Western Province v Bulls) at the Newlands Stadium and finally taking part in a practice air sea rescue with the South African navy!

The tour also met several Watsonians who are based in the Cape Town area. All in all we had a fantastic time with memories that will last a life time. Finally, thanks go to all our hosts for their kind hospitality.
