Rowers Receive Olympic Inspiration

Pupils watch the webcast from the GWC Centre for SportThis afternoon our rowers watched Katherine Grainger MBE deliver a lecture The Journey to Gold, part of The Royal Society of Edinburgh's Christmas Lectures 2012, via live webcast from Lochaber High School.

Sitting in the GWC Centre for Sport they heard the route that Katherine took to her Olympic success and the importance of goals.

Katherine spoke openly about how each of her three silver medals meant very different things to her, as they were gained against a backdrop of very different expectations.

Hopefully, as the traditional winter weather brings its usual challenges to our rowers with the frozen canal, this talk will have inspired our rowers to maintain their fitness and work on further success when the racing season recommences.

Excerpts from the lecture will appear here on the BBC iPlayer website later.
