Last weekend saw Watson's rowers in action at the Scottish Championships in Strathclyde Park, with impressive performances across the age ranges.
Saturday saw the senior boys race in single sculls for Scotland team selection. Fergus Mainland (S5) and Ben Carruthers (S6) won gold and silver respectively in the Schoolboy Singles. They then teamed up with Alexander Chisholm (S6) and Euan Dickerson (S5) and won the Intermediate Quad. The J14 boys quad, comprising Lachlan White, Rory Mainland, Peter Demyanov (all S2) and Oleg Dmitriev and Charley Carmichael (both S3), won silver and also the schoolboy gold. The WJ12 girls had a cracking race in the Single Scull. Robyn Douglas (S1) won gold and Emma Campbell (S1) took silver. Rory Mainland teamed up with Alexander Levi (S1) and won gold in the J13 Double Scull.
On Sunday, the senior girls raced in singles for Scottish selection and the senior boys in pairs. Euan Dickerson and his partner from St Andrew Boat Club won bronze in J18 pairs with Fergus Mainland and his partner from Aberdeen fourth. Alexander Chisholm and Ben Carruthers were the quickest school crew. The boys then switched back to sculling and were the fastest junior quad. Not to be outdone, the senior girls quad, consisting of Monica Tandon, Lauren Cory (both S5), Marisa Chisholm (S4) and Anna Buchanan (S3), won gold in J18 Schoolgirl Quads. Anna Buchanan then raced in the WJ14 and won gold and schoolgirl gold. Lachlan White and Rory Mainland also raced in the J14 Double Scull, placing third as well as being the fastest schoolboy crew.
The senior girls now travel to Henley Women's Regatta and senior boys to Marlow Regatta as they continue their campaign to Henley Royal Regatta. Both squads await the publication of the Scottish team for the Home International Regatta.
