GWC Senior School Swimming GalaThis year's Senior School Swimming Gala saw some outstanding performances, as long-standing School records were broken.

A new Girls' U14 Back Crawl record was set by Rachel Saunders (S1), with Ella Wood (S2) and Kiera Rennie (S1) also breaking the old record. Keira also broke Mairi Drummond's 2006 record for the Girls' U14 Front Crawl.

Every U14 Boys' individual record was broken too. John Boyes' 1990 record for the Boys' U14 Butterfly was broken by Daniel Saunders (S2) in first place, followed by Joshua Aspinall (S2) and Jamie Littlefield (S1). Boyes also held the records since 1990 for the Boys' U14 Front Crawl (matched by Neil Ferguson in 2015), which was broken this year by Joshua Aspinall, and the Boys' U14 Breaststroke, broken by Jamie Littlefield. Joshua also broke Zachary Courtney's 2006 record for the Boys' U14 Back Crawl. Finally, Daniel Saunders broke his own record from last year for the Boys' U14 Individual Medley.

In the Boys' 14/15 races, Lewis Birrell (S4) broke the record for the Front Crawl (set by Craig Hamilton in 2006; Craig went on to swim in the Commonwealth Games), and a thirty-year old record for the Butterfly set by Michael Wynn in 1986. Congratulations to all our record-breakers for some truly remarkable swimming!
