Our four U16 girls representing ScotlandDuring the holidays several of our pupils were in action for Scotland on both hockey and rugby pitches.

Ramsay Young (S5) played in the Scotland U17 rugby team, which was unbeaten in their run of games against England, France, England Blues and England Reds, scoring a try against France.

Mairi Drummond and Hazel Hall (both S6) went to Wales to play for the Scotland U18 hockey team in their 2–1 series victory against their Welsh opponents. Mairi scored a goal in the 4–1 win on the first day, while Hazel hit the back of the net the next day in the 5–3 win.

At U16 level, four of our girls, Waverley Miller, Kirsten Peters, Ailsa Small (all S4) and Catriona McLellan (S3), featured in the Scotland team in a three-match international series against Wales at Inverclyde. Kirsten and Catriona were both given the honour of being captain for a match. Wales won the series, but Waverley scored a goal for Scotland in the last match.

Our boys were also in action for Scotland on the hockey pitch. Peter Brown, Jake Hibbert and Duncan Riddell (all S6) played in the U18 internationals against Wales at Wrexham.

Danny Cain (S4) and Andrew Oliphant (S3) were selected for Scotland U16 and played various U18 club sides from around the world in the HDM tournament in the Hague. They eventually finished an excellent sixth. Danny scored six goals in the five matches.

Meanwhile, Danny Prentice, Lewis Fraser (both S4), Stuart Nickerson and Philip Bryans (both S3) played against Wales U16 at Inverclyde for the Scotland U16 Development side losing two matches and drawing in one.
