On Monday 5 March, 40 S5 and S6 pupils from Balerno High, Boroughmuir High, George Heriot's and St George's joined pupils from George Watson's College for a day of intensive German speaking, helped by five native speakers and George Watson's staff. The aim was to give them the opportunity to perfect their German skills in preparation for their SQA speaking tests, working in small groups with pupils and assistants from different schools. The pupils discussed a variety of topics and took part in games and other language activities.
Gareth Edwards, Principal of George Watson's College said, 'We were delighted to host this event to assist as many pupils as possible in Edinburgh to further their language skills. The ability and desire to learn other languages are central to education even more so now as we live and work on a global scale.'
