Former undercover police officer turned computer game inventor and author, David Goutcher enthralled our Primary 7s on a recent visit.
David told the pupils about the challenges he faced and his perseverance in joining the police force and his progression into the fascinating world of working undercover. After tales of gadgets and disguises he described how he turned to instructing undercover agents and how these experiences inspired him to create a computer game and write a book.
His latest book, 'Spy Quest', utilises the latest in augmented reality technology to immerse the reader in exciting stories. The pupils were thrilled by the prospect of learning spy tradecraft skills whilst enjoying a story based on David's own experiences. The pupils gained a lot from the visit and are now keen to try and combine technology and literacy themselves to help their stories come alive and leap from the page.
