Our football team has qualified for the national finals of Lloyds TSB Scottish Schools' Association 7-a-side cup.
They came through the Edinburgh qualifying section unbeaten without conceding a goal, and yesterday repeated the feat at the national semi-final stage. Both events were held at Meggetlan , and the boys will be playing in the National Finals in May or June, probably at a Senior football ground in the west of Scotland.
Yesterday the boys saw off Wallacestone Primary School 2-0, Lawhead Primary School 4-0 and Torbain Primary School 2-0, playing exceptionally well, and working very hard for each other. This is a fantastic achievement for a group of boys who have come together specifically for this tournament - not that anyone could tell!
Fraser Heigh scored five of the teams goals, with Ben Logie netting a couple and Jamie Stephen getting one. Ben Logie, Oliver Martin, Ewan Evans and Euan Cockburn shared duties up front and always looked dangerous, while Fraser Heigh and Jamie Stephen controlled the midfield. At the back, Fraser Kinloch, Ben Wilson and Fin Stewart were extremely solid and rarely troubled, while Matthew Buchanan was an excellent goalie. 6 clean sheets tell their own story!
