Pipes & Drums Take Edinburgh By Storm

Pipes & Drums Take Edinburgh By Storm

Published on 26 June 2018

In scorching hot sunshine on Sunday, the three School bands continued their strong form by taking top honours at the Edinburgh Pipe Band Championships in Princes Street Gardens.

The Juvenile Band took the top prize in their grade, winning the Best Drum Corps and first places from all four adjudicators.  In the adult Grade Two competition the Juvenile Band once again finished first with the drum corps following suit.

Our Novice A Band, not to be outdone, were awarded the top award in a combined Novice Juvenile A and Adult Grade 4A contest, winning the drumming and once again achieved first place from all four adjudicators.

Our Novice B Band made their first outing of the 2018 outdoor season, with many new players as young as Primary 5 making their competitive debut.  After a very strong performance by a huge band of over forty players, the band was awarded third in a combined NJB/Grade 4B contest, scooping the drumming prize in that grade as well.

The pupils were cheered on by a large group of very supportive parents and friends of the band which added to another excellent day and great results for all our bands.  Special thanks to Mr Graham Gaw, Primary 7 teacher, for the excellent photos of the bands.

The Juvenile and Novice A bands will travel north to Forres this Saturday to compete at the European Pipe Band Championships.

Well done to all involved.
