Pipes & Drums Enjoy Their 15th Japanese Trip

Published on 10 May 2017

The Pipes & Drums have just returned from another unforgettable trip to southern Japan.

Once again there were many highlights including performing in a street parade at the Arita Porcelain Festival and meeting the students of Munakata Junior High and Kato Primary schools. Our pupils and staff enjoyed an excursion to Marine World where they witnessed a fabulous dolphin display and were treated to a delicious lunch in the Hilton Sea Hawk hotel overlooking Hakata Bay. As in previous years, they performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sanix World Youth Rugby Tournament. There was a poignant moment during the opening ceremony when Pipe Major Iain Simpson played a lament he composed for the late Mr Munemasa called Tribute to Munemasa-san.

Finally our girls and boys performed Ed Sheeran's Shape of You at the welcome party.

The pupils were a credit to the School and indeed were complimented for their good behaviour and manners on numerous occasions.
