Pipers playingGeorge Watson’s College World Championship winning Pipes & Drums have been invited by the Scottish Government to perform at the Jig in the Gardens, Edinburgh’s free celebration of Scotland’s National Day.

The event, on Friday 30 November, takes place in West Princes Street Gardens, and should be a wonderful celebration of the multi-cultural diversity that exists in Scotland.

Our Pipers & Drummers will be playing at 1.30pm, as they march around the gardens. At 1.40pm they are due to arrive at the main tent, where they will play for a further 10 minutes.

Later in the afternoon they will play to greet the arrival of the First Minister of Scotland, the Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP. They will pipe the First Minister into the tent and provide him with a Guard of Honour.

Mr Gareth Edwards, Principal, stated, “This is a wonderful honour for our pipe band, and our School. This year has seen them achieve so much success in competitions, including their World Championship wins. Their involvement in our city’s St Andrew’s Day celebrations seems like a very fitting endorsement of their achievements from the highest levels.”
