We were delighted to see four people who are all great supporters of George Watson’s College have their achievements recognised in the New Year’s Honours list.
Former Chairman of Governors, Andrew Cubie CBE, received a Knighthood for Public Service in Scotland.
Many of the newspapers headlines informed the nation that Chris Hoy MBE became Sir Chris Hoy, capping off what was a phenomenal year for our FP. However he made history, along with his mother, Carol, who gained an MBE for her work as a nurse working in the research into sleep-related illnesses. This made them the first mother and son to be recognised for separate achievements in the same list.
And last but by no means least, Judith Sischy, Director of the Scottish Council of Independent Schools, who works tirelessly to ensure that independent schools are well represented at national and government level was made an OBE for services to education and to the voluntary sector.
