Union Flag flying against a blue skyRebecca Poon and Jodie White (both S6) continued their domination of Scottish debating by qualifying as Scottish champions for the Cambridge University Debating Championships. The girls had to debate diverse topics such as privatisation of prisons and Syrian air strikes, and will now go to Cambridge in February to compete in the UK Championships.

There was similar success for the S3 pair, Adam Mallis and Ben Stanley. The boys cleaned up the honours at the Scottish round of the Oxford University Competition for Young Debaters, winning the team prize and both individual prizes. They too will now compete in the UK Championships, which take place in April. Quite incredibly, this is the third year in a row that the boys have achieved this feat.
