The Junior Pipe Band celebrate their first outing at the Cowal Gathering in DunoonOn Saturday 29 August our Junior Pipe Band made their first ever visit to the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, one of the oldest and largest Highland Games in the pipe band calendar, leaving Watson’s at 6.00am.

The band competed in the Novice Juvenile, the Grade 4 March, Strathspey & Reel and Juvenile grades. This was a new experience for all members, competing in such a prestigious event, combined with playing in more senior grades and performing new musical disciplines. The band gained prizes in all three events securing, a third and two fourth places and also two first places in drumming.

The successful trip culminated in a crowd lined street parade though Dunoon High Street to the delight of both the crowds and pupils alike.

All in all this was a very tiring but exciting adventure for the Junior Band as they arrived back at GWC at 11.30pm.

The Junior Band will travel to Peebles this Saturday to compete in their last competition of the season. They are drawn to play fifth in the Novice Juvenile grade at approximately 11.20am and ninth in Grade 3 at approximately 2.40pm.
