This week sees the launch of our new school website and prospectus. The project began just over a year ago, when we invited a number of design companies to pitch for the job. The successful team were One World Design and Metamedia who brought their respective expertise in print and website design to this integrated project.
It is a credit to the outgoing prospectus that it served us well for a decade. However, as a school we are constantly developing, and it was time to refresh our message to parents and others with an interest in the school. The design is both classic and contemporary, and is intended to represent Watson's blend of tradition and innovation. In choosing what to put on each page, our hardest task was deciding what to leave out! Eventually, we concluded that it would be impossible to show everything and selected a number of themes which we believe make Watson's special. We hope that the powerful photography will help convey those messages, particularly to those finding out about Watson's for the first time.
Some of the design themes have been carried through to the new website, but here our primary goal was to enhance usability. For visitors and existing members of our community alike, we want the website to be a readily accessible and easily navigable source of information. That is why we have kept the site simple and easy to use, avoiding features that might impede accessibility. The launch of the website is a starting point for the continued development of our online material over the coming months and years. This is a medium which does not stand still, and we welcome any suggestions on how the website can better serve its users.
