India Trip group We arrived safely in Delhi in the early morning. We spent a hot and humid day there and then flew out early the next morning to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. At the airport we were met by a small group from the Lingshed Childrens' Hostel who presented us all with traditional scarves. We have visited Buddhist monasteries in and around Leh, sampled the local cuisine and travelled by jeep to the highest road pass in the world, at over 18000ft.

Yesterday we visited the Lingshed Hostel and we were all stunned at the warm reception given. We were asked to officially open the new washroom facilities which we had raised money for. We were given tea and biscuits as the children sang to us and then took the opportunity to get to know the children through fun and games. In return we sang the school hymn, Flower of Scotland and we finished off the afternoon by linking arms and singing Auld Lang Syne. This was a wonderful moment and everyone had a very memorable afternoon.

We are now preparing to head off on our trek through the Markha Valley, which we are sure will prove to be quite an adventure.
