Hockey Scottish Schools' Cups Won

Our hockey players followed up their Scottish U18 indoor finals wins last month, by both the boys' and girls' 1st XIs winning their respective Scottish Schools' Cups on Wednesday.

The girls beat Robert Gordon's 3-0, St Columba's 2-0 and Gordonstoun 7-0 in the group stages, before progressing to beat Strathallan 1-0 in the semi final. They then met High School of Glasgow in the final. Watson's thoroughly dominated the match winning 1-0 and lifting the Scottish Schools Cup for the second time in three years.

The boys played Fettes in their cup final. After conceding a goal mid way through the second half, Calum Swann (S6) scored from a well worked corner with five minutes to go. The score stayed at 1-1 but Watson's triumphed, winning 5-4 on penalty strokes. The boys have now won the cup four times in six years.

Both successes are testament to the hard work and talent of the players, but also to the hours of hard work put in by all coaches, starting in the Primary and progressing through to S6.
