Close up of the oarsOur 1st VIII has made history, becoming the first ever Scottish VIII to qualify for the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. No other Scottish J8 has ever attended this highly prestigious event.

Henley Royal regatta attracts the best crews from around the world and to qualify is a huge achievement.  Our crew, coached by Jason Foster and Steven Kerr, is Oliver Fenton, Rebecca Moore (coxswain), James Stevenson, and Alastair Watson (all S6), Ben Carruthers,  Alex Chisholm, Duncan Kuwall (all S5), and Euan Dickerson and Fergus Mainland (both S4).

The J16 coxed four – Fergus, Euan, Alex and Ben, along with cox Hannah Watson (S4), will be attending the GB U16 trials this weekend (27 June) for selection for the annual match against France.

Meanwhile five S6 pupils Oliver Fenton*, Katy McDonald, Rebecca Moore, James Stevenson*, and Alasdair Watson have been confirmed in the provisional Scotland Rowing Team to face England, Ireland and Wales in the Home International Regatta on 25 July at Strathclyde Park. Fergus Mainland (S4) is on standby.

* Unless selected at Final Trials later in June to represent Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Hungary or Junior World Rowing Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
