On June 26, 19 pupils and 3 members of staff set off on a 23 day expedition to Ecuador. The trip, organised with KE Adventure, sees the party spend time in the Amazon rain forest before acclimatising for high altitude walking and mountaineering. After attempting to climb three of Ecuador's extinct volcanoes, the highest at over 4800m, the group will embark on their hardest challenge. This will see an attempt on Cotopoaxi, at 5897m the highest active volcano in the world!
During the organising and training for this trip, the group have actively been raising money for two charities, Plan International and the Juniper Trust. £1,000 has been donated to Plan International to fund community health projects in Ecuador and £500 will be donated, while we are in the country, to an orphanage for street children supported by the Juniper Trust.
The group's thanks go to all who have generously supported our efforts.
