Grace Reid (S5) came home from the British Gas Diving Championships, which were held in Plymouth over the weekend, with her first individual senior title, having won the three-metre springboard competition, against stiff competition. This win followed a bronze medal winning performance in the 1m springboard competition on Friday.
Grace said on Monday morning. "I still can't believe it yet, it will probably take a while to sink in, there was so much tension and pressure towards the end and I don't really know how I did it – but something clicked and my body just knew what to do.
"I took a risk of changing one of my dives and it's probably the best decision I've ever made.
"It makes all the training , the missed parties and only getting two days' holiday at Christmas all worth it and I couldn't do it without my friends and family – especially my mum! It's the most surreal experience and it's only made me want to work harder and keep training which is something I will need when I get back to my 'normal' life and hard training regime."
Grace was not the only Watson's pupil taking part, as James Heatly (S4) was also participating in the Championships. James came sixth in the final of the Mens' 3m springboard competition and seventh in the 1m competition.
