Foundation Day

Foundation Day

Published on 16 March 2018

Today we celebrate Foundation Day, 20 years on from the establishment of the George Watson's Family Foundation. This morning we reminded our pupils of the importance of the Foundation and how it benefits everyone who comes to Watson's. The Senior School pupils have shown their support with a non-uniform day and making a donation to the Foundation.

Foundation Places continue to offer a wonderful opportunity for those who would otherwise not have had the chance of an education at Watson’s. Last year financial assistance amounting to £1.3m was awarded to 183 pupils through Foundation Places and Short Term Support, with 40% of pupils receiving over 90% financial assistance. The strength of the Foundation and our Foundation Places depends on wide ranging support from the whole Watson’s community and we would be delighted if you could support us and make a donation today.

Our past tells us the remarkable story of a school set up to offer an education to children from less advantaged backgrounds, the Foundation exists to ensure that we can continue this legacy for future generations. Please do get in touch with the Development Office if you would like to learn more.
