The 1st XI were crowned Scottish champions after defeating Dollar Academy and Loretto at the National Finals' Day held in Stirling.
Drawn against Dollar Academy in the semi-final, captain Rory Evans (S6) lost the toss and was asked to bat. Jack Mullins (S4) and Andrew Cockburn (S6) immediately took the game to the Dollar bowlers, punishing any bad bowling and running hard to put on an incredible partnership of 130. Once Cockburn departed for a brilliant 80 from just 55 balls, Rory Evans kept the momentum going as Watson's reached 152 from their 20 overs. In reply, Dollar came close, scoring 137, but a fine spell from spinners Tom Counsell (S4) and Kerr Stoddart (S6) ensured that they never quite kept up with the run rate.
In the final, Loretto also won the toss and chose to bat. From ball one, Watson's bowled and fielded with intensity and focus, never letting the batters settle. A fine four overs from Kathryn Bryce (S6) sucked the life out of the Loretto innings, and a terrific spell from Oliver Brown (S5) kept Loretto to just 127 from their 20 overs.
In reply, the Watson's top order produced their most clinical batting performance of the season as they knocked the runs off with ease. Jack Mullins (S4) scored a rapid 42, ably backed by Tom Dryden (S6) with 31 not out. Watson's won by seven wickets with four overs to spare and have become the first Watson's side to win the Scottish Cup.
