First Girls in 100 years of George Watson's Scouting

Today, a little bit of George Watson's College history will be made when two girls join the GWC Scout Troop.

Libby Cavaye and Antonia MacFarlane will become the first Girl Scouts to join in what is the hundredth year of the School's Scout Group.

The 9th (George Watson’s College) Scout Group was founded in April 1908 and was only open to boys from the school. However, a change in Scout Association rules a few years ago meant that girls can now join Scouts too. However, it has taken a while to find two that were willing to try.

Let's hope that many more girls take their lead.
