GalleonGeorge Watson's College hosted their first joint Advanced Higher French Conference on 28 November, with 42 S6 pupils from Firrhill High School, Boroughmuir High School, St Mary's Music School and George Watson's College attending.

The Conference's theme was the Environment and the whole day was conducted in French.

The conference was opened by Robin Harper MSP, who as a member of the Scottish Green Party, a fluent French speaker and an ex-Boroughmuir High School Teacher, was the obvious choice to provide the opening address. Prior to the Conference, the pupils studied the topics with a view to sharing information and reaching conclusions at the Conference.

Gareth Edwards, Principal at George Watson's College, stated as he welcomed the delegates to the conference, 'I very much hope that like-minded students get together today and enjoy speaking French. This is the first event, and I sincerely hope that it is not the last. I'm sure it will not be.'
