Kieran Wilson and James Lee (both S6) followed their victory at Dundee University's Schools' Debating Competition with another impressive performance at Glasgow University's national tournament. After four rounds of debating, the team finished top of the 32-strong field, with Kieran finishing second top individual speaker overall.
The top four teams qualified for the final, in which local rivals, Stewart’s Melville, narrowly beat Watson’s. Equally impressive was a seventh place for one of the youngest teams taking part – Andrew Ratter (S4) and Dan Roberts (S2). The debating squad will now begin preparation for competitions run by the Universities of Aberdeen and St Andrews.
