Watson’s debating team of James Lee and Kieran Wilson (both S6) came home from yesterday’s University of Dundee Open Schools Debating Competition having beaten teams from throughout Scotland to win.
Their arguments were solid, witty and strong enough to defeat some of the best school debaters from around Scotland - including the High School of Dundee, who had won the competition for the last three years. In the finals the boys faced Grove Academy, Craigmount High and St Columba's.
Their debate in the final against the privatisation of Royal Mail resulted in a unanimous decision in their favour from the judges.
Mr Gareth Edwards, Principal, said of the win, “This is an excellent result. The boys’ debating skills have been evident for some time and this win is well deserved.”
