Debating Clean Sweep

Saltire flag flyingWatson's cemented its place as one of the top Scottish debating schools with two comprehensive victories in recent competitions.

Dan Roberts (S5) and David Wolffe (S6) collected their second Scottish trophy by winning the prestigious Edinburgh University Debating Competition for the first time in Watson's history. They won all four debates, defeating teams from over 30 different schools around the country.

Tom Wyllie (S3) and Zixiao Hu (S1) collected the inaugural Edinburgh Schools' Juniors Trophy by winning a competition held at Craigmount High School. Tom and Zixiao also won each of their four debates on such diverse topics as home schooling and supporting British military intervention. Jodie White (S3) collected the best individual speaker award at the same competition.

Watson's now has four debating trophies in the cabinet this year.
