Friday 24 November marked the start of the Primary 2 pantomime season, with five class performances of Dick Whittington. Each class performed this well loved fairy story and every child was involved. We had Dick, Mr Fitzwarren, Alice, villagers, narrators, musicians and of course, the cat! Two of the children's favourite songs were Oranges and Lemons and Turn Again Whittington. A wonderful display of old London with Dick Whittington's cat was made and hangs in the corridor - it even has a road paved with golden coins! The children were all very excited at the prospect of performing to their parents, and some said that they felt rather nervous. The children have all worked very hard to learn the words and actions, and many of them have written their own fairy stories and made them into books. Well done boys and girls!
Tuesday 5 December marked the first of five Primary 1 Nativity performances. Coffee and shortbread were served to the parents of each class before the performance of Nursery Rhyme Nativity began. Every child from each class was involved in the retelling of this important story, and it was wonderful to see our Primary 1 pupils speaking and acting with such confidence. Everyone enjoyed dressing up and taking part. Congratulations to you all!
On Wednesday 6 December, Primary 3 presented a Christmas assembly to their parents. During the assembly the children sang Christmas carols, including a carol in French. They sang a beautiful song in torch-light, and recited poems in French and English. They had learned an amazing amount of words and actions. There was an air of excitement, and even a little stage fright, but the children were tremendous and they obviously enjoyed the occasion. Well done Primary 3!
