On Tuesday, the annual Caritas Lecture was held in the Senior School Assembly Hall. The lecture was open to pupils, staff and members of the public and because of the very significant and contemporary issue that is facing us all- the prospect of Scottish independence – there was a very large turnout.
The speaker was Professor John Curtice of Strathclyde University, the accepted expert on Scottish constitutional matters, who delivered a lecture titled: Is Scotland Set To Separate? on the different attitudes towards the referendum for independence and the issues surrounding the possibility of Scottish independence, devolution or devolution max.
This was followed by a rigorous question and answer session where issues like the 16–17 year old vote were discussed. The lecture was a huge success and the audience left feeling much more informed about the prospects facing us all.
