close up of boys rowingThe last fortnight has brought national and international success for our rowers.

At the National Championships in Nottingham on the 18–20 July, our U16 boys’ squad members were involved in winning 3 gold and 2 silver medals.

The following weekend, at the Home Countries International in Cardiff, past and present pupils made up the majority of the Scottish Junior Men’s Team. The Team won the Junior Men’s Team event with four medals. This was the first time Scotland has won in several decades (since the early 60s).

While the team were battling it out in Cardiff, Mr Jim Ferguson, our rowing coach, took a call from Austria, which informed him that Sean Dixon (Class of 2008) had led the GB coxed four to a silver medal at the World Junior Rowing Championships. This was the only medal won by the GB Boys’ teams.
