Business Breakfast 2004

It was an early start for all involved with Watson's second Business Breakfast. It certainly turned out to be a morning well worth attending.

The Breakfast gives Business and Economics students in S5 and S6 the chance to mingle with successful entrepreneurs from the business world while enjoying an impressive breakfast and an excellent speaker.

This year’s presentation was delivered by Mr Bill Gammell, CEO of Cairn Energy, an oil company whose recent success has seen them rocket into the FTSE 100, and increase their worth from £6 million to a massive £2.3 billion. Our guest speaker was also recently named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

His speech encouraged budding young business people to have “a vision for the future, a focus on your vision, positive energy to get things done, and the right attitude towards the task at hand” in order to achieve in the business world. We were also encouraged to “take the Brave Pill!” In other words, without taking the risk – there will be no reward. Overall his speech was inspirational and thought-provoking – a reflection on the morning as a whole!
