Rory McAlpine (S6) will be coming home from India with a Bronze medal won in the boys’ 50 metre Rifle Prone event.

He is representing Scotland in the Commonwealth Youth Games currently taking place in Pune, India.

His score of 582 out of 600 was only 3 points behind the winner, despite a poor shot early in the final.

Rory said, “I had one shocking shot right in the middle of the final on my fifth shot and thought I had ruined my chances but I managed to put it out of my mind and get on with it. I was very proud to be standing on the podium.”

Gareth Edwards, Principal, said of Rory’s success, “We are delighted by Rory's magnificent performance. The School's Rifle Shooting Club has produced a number of talented sportsmen and sportswomen over the years who have represented Scotland and Great Britain with pride and distinction; I congratulate Rory on his success which is the result of much dedication from him and his coaches.”
