On Sunday the boys' hockey team competed in the Scottish U18 Indoor Cup after qualifying as winners of the East District tournament.
In a very tight and even pool they lost to Strathallan 2–0, beat Aberdeen Grammar 4–1 and drew with Clydesdale 3–3. As a result the team qualified on goal difference for the semi finals.
In the semi final the team were up against a talented Kelburne side and found themselves 4–0 behind at half time. But an incredible fightback in the second half leveled the scores at 4–4 with 10 seconds to go in the match. GWC won the penalty shoot out 4–3.
The opponents in the final were Strathallan and despite having a greater share of the play our boys lost 2–1. However it is a young team and with all players returning next year they hope to go one better in 2013.
They play the first round of the Scottish Schools' Outdoor Cup on Saturday 21 January with a start time of 11.30am at Peffermill against Aberdeen Grammar School.
